Animal Services

The Sutter Animal Services Authority (SASA), a Joint Powers Authority comprised of the County of Sutter, the City of Yuba City and the City of Live Oak, is responsible for animal services throughout Sutter County. Sutter County is the lead agency and the Community Services Department manages the existing animal shelter and staff. Services include animal licensure, investigation of animal bites, and the quarantine of animals.

The SASA Board of Directors is comprised of Sutter County supervisors Larry Munger and Stan Cleveland Jr., Yuba City council members John Miller and John Dukes, and Live Oak council members Gary Baland and Diane Hodges.

The SASA Board is working toward construction of a new animal shelter. The SASA Board is scheduled to meet at 1:00 p.m. at the Sutter County Hall of Records, 466 Second Street, Yuba City, on the following dates: February 25, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 16. Dates are subject to change by action from the SASA Board of Directors. Agendas and staff reports are online.
