Second Hand Smoke and Your Children
When your children are exposed to second-hand smoke...
- They get sick more often and stay sick longer.
- They have more coughs, colds, ear infections, and asthma attacks.
- They can develop pneumonia and/or bronchitis more easily.
- They will be more likely to have heart disease, breathing problems,
or lung cancer when they grow up.
What you can do to protect your children...
- Ask family and friends not to smoke around your children.
- Set up a "smoke-free" home.
- Don't allow smoking in your car.
- Insist on a nonsmoking daycare.
