Mat Conant is a fifth generation California farmer, third generation Sutter County farmer and lifelong Rio Oso resident. His grandparents started farming in South Sutter County in the 1920's.
Mat served as a board member for the California Farm Bureau, Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau, South Sutter Water District, East Nicolaus High School, Brown's Elementary School Board, South Sutter Little League, and a committee member on the Diamond Walnut Advisory Committee.
Mat received the Diamond Walnut Best Crop Quality Howard Grower award in 2003 and the Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award in 2014.
He is a proud graduate of East Nicolaus High School, Yuba College, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the California Ag Leadership Program.
Mat is a 21 year veteran of the East Nicolaus Fire Department, a Eucharistic Minister of the Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years.
Mat and his wife, Lorene, have been married for 32 years. Lorene is a Retired Special Education teacher for Live Oak Unified, with 36 years of teaching experience. They have two sons, one of which now works with Mat. He is the 6th generation Conant to farm in California.
