Home MenuGlassy-winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) Program
The GWSS Program serves to detect and control the vector of Pierce’s Disease, a potentially catastrophic disease of vineyards. One of the vectors of this xylem-restricted bacterium is the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter. This program is primarily involved with the placement of traps in both urban and agricultural sites. In addition, incoming shipments of host materials and susceptible county plantings are also inspected.
