Preventive well-child care is more than just routine check-ups. It's a way to keep your child healthy and strong. It involves going to the doctor regularly to make sure your child is growing well, staying healthy physically, emotionally, and mentally, and reaching all the important milestones as they grow up.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends infants, children, and adolescents receive routine medical exams, also called well child exams or preventive healthcare.
- It's important to choose a primary doctor for your child. This doctor will take care of your child's health needs and give them support as they grow.
- Recommended ages for well-child visits:
- 2 weeks
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 2 years old
- 2.5 years old
- 3 years old
- After the age of 3, yearly well-child visits are advised.
