Property Assessment
After a natural disaster, the Sutter County Development Services, Environmental Health Division may partner with local, state or federal partners to conduct damage assessments of impacted properties, which includes properly disposing of hazardous materials and hazardous waters/ash. For agricultural-related damages, the Department of Agriculture can assist with damage reports and other services. Once assessments have been completed, home/land owners will have access to the damage assessment report for their respective properties. Don't forget to file a claim with your insurance company!
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Once the area is declared safe to enter, be aware of safety issues that may be lingering. Whether flood waters or fire-charred items, both have contaminants that are harmful if not reviewed and removed properly. Make sure to follow all safety guidelines and wear proper protective gear if you chose to remove hazardous waste; however, we recommend reaching out to the Sutter County Environmental Health Team to properly have items removed.
Mental Health
Your mental health is vital to the recovery process, whether you, your family, children, or friends, it is important to make time to process the situation or to a way to relieve stress and anxiety.
