The current monkeypox (MPX*) situation is rapidly evolving, Sutter County will update this page as new information emerges. Sutter County Public Health is dedicated to keeping the community informed and safe. Overall, the risk to the public is currently low based on the information available.
Close, sustained skin-to-lesion contact, including sexual contact, with a person with MPX appears to be the major mechanism associated with transmission among recent cases.
Starting August 18, 2022, Sutter County Public Health is offering Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) to individuals deemed at high-risk for MPX. See below for more information.
