California Environmental Quality Act Filings (CEQA), also called Fish and Wildlife Filings. The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is a California statute passed in 1970, shortly after the United States federal government passed the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to institute a statewide policy of environmental protection.

The Sutter County Clerk of the Board's office is responsible for filing and posting documents for developing or continuing projects within the county that may have a potential effect on the environment. We review each document for filing, post the document for the public review period and then return the document to the responsible agency.
